Engineering: designed to high, no-compromise specifications, then priced fairly. Engineering: designed to a specific price point, no matter the compromise.
Construction: solid aluminum faceplates and heavy-duty steel chassis designed for rack mounting. Construction: plastic faceplates and flimsy steel chassis not designed for custom installation.
Electronics: audiophile-grade precision resistors, film capacitors, and large toroidal transformers. Electronics: consumer-grade resistors, electrolytic and ceramic capacitors, and small transformers.
Amplifier topology: fully discrete from input to output, with advanced topologies, including fully complementary and differential. Amplifier topology: may be a small integrated “chip amp” or Class-D switching amplifier.
