12-Channel Amplifier
In the spring
of 2000 Sherbourn introduced its remarkable 12/900 distribution
amplifier. It was widely acknowledged as the first 6-zone, stereo
amplifier to embody discrete performance at an affordable price.
A worthy successor is now available in the highly innovative and
affordable LDS 12/900.
This
6-zone amplifier is housed in the same elegant rack-mountable chassis
as Sherbourn's other high output amplifiers. Each zone can handle
2 pairs of 8-ohm speakers with a rated output of 100/150 watts into
8/4-ohms respectively. The musical performance remains superb thanks
to the continued use of discrete bi-polar transistors, big capacitors,
hefty multi tap toroidal transformers and large heat-sinks. The
rear panel has switches for bridging/summing and local/global input
selection. There are 6 selectable signal-sensing switches, 6 low
volt triggers and 6 pairs of large removable speaker connectors.
The patent-pending LDS (Load Detection System)
circuitry permits loudspeaker connections to be thoroughly tested
before the amplifier goes to full power.
The
LDS 12/900's 12 channels are bridgeable, allowing for it to
be configured
as a 5.1 or 6.1 home theater amplifier. Each bridged channel will
output up to 125 watts of clean discrete power. With the chassis
being a cosmetic match with the PT-7010A
pre/pro/tuner, the combination offers an elegant, innovative, high
quality and affordable alternative to those ubiquitous and frequently
underpowered receivers. A 5.1 arrangement allows the amplifier's
remaining two channels to be used to deliver 100 watts of power
for driving 2 pairs of 8-ohm speakers from the PT-7000's second
zone for 'extra' music around the house.
No
matter what the requirements, Sherbourn's LDS 12/900 multi channel,
multi zone amplifier provides an answer. Talk to a Sherbourn dealer
and see just how affordable a whole house multi-zone installation
or a home theater system can be - and how each can add to your listening
pleasure.
